Quilting: Block No 8

Block No 8

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Free Motion Quilting a Sampler »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabric, polyester thread and wadding.

What was your inspiration?

Leah Day's FMQ class.

What are you most proud of?

Not quilting myself into a corner I couldn't get out of! I rather like these snakey paisleys (and the other paisleys) as they give quite a professional look (in my case, only if you don't look too closely!). The back also looks quite interesting. I didn't quilt over the fairy for obvious reasons.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Relax your shoulders - it's easier if you do!

Felt quite pleased with myself when I finished this one, but the feathers soon put me back in my place!

This one wasn't too difficult - if you quilt yourself into a corner, it's quite easy to bluff your way out of it agaqin!

I've had trouble with one of my blocks too but not this one, which was one of the easiest (so far). Been struggling with the "rogue" one this afternoon, but think I've beaten it. Will post piccie shortly. Hope you get your machine and your mojo back soon!

Love this and your quilting - the fairy in the middle is so cute

Thank you. The fairies weren't part of my original scheme of things, but I wanted something to fussy-cut to make a focal point here and there and fairies were the only pictures I could find that were small enough! I think it has worked though.

Thank you. I think I may spend a lot of time looking at all my faults once it's finished rather than the good bits!

No, you won't. You'll put it out where you can enjoy it and the wonderful "10 foot rule" will be your friend. I've found that my horrible mistakes tend to fade over time and become less glaring.
