What materials did you use? Cotton fabric, polyester thread and wadding.

What are you most proud of? Eventually finishing the quilting on this one after a very frustrating and annoying false start, when I tried to quilt too fast and the friction on the thread caused it to fray, split and break several times.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a very thick block: the way that Amy has taught it (in the 2012 BOM course) which means that there are several layers of fabric, in addition to the wadding and backing. Therefore it's quite easy to cause friction by sewing too fast, so that the thread will break. It's best just to chug along slowly and you'll find that the thread shouldn't then break. I spent a while unpicking my first effort and could have saved myself all that hassle by being a bit more patient in the first place. A very good illustration of the old adage "More haste less speed"! It's all a learning curve ...

Love the fairy in the middle! Very pretty block!

The fairy in the middle means I don't need to quilt that bit! I'm quite pleased with this (after a bit of trouble doing it) so I might use this design in something else one day.
