For: Home

Style: Classic, Romantic, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabric, polyester thread and wadding.

What was your inspiration?

Leah Day's class.

What are you most proud of?

Getting ithe FMQ to look fairly consistent. I didn't do any FMQ in the centre as I didn't want to quilt over the fairy.

Thank you. I didn't practise much for this one, but I think it would have been a lot better if I had done so!

Thank you (but I don't think I practise enough before I launch myself into the blocks!).

Thank you. I can't help but think it looks as though it's frowning!

Pat - I love this one too - have you thought about just outlining the fairy like in thread painting - go around her two or three times and she's really pop!

That's a good idea, but I think it might be a bit too intricate for me at this moment in time! I might well go back and do that when I've had a bit more experience!

I hear you about the shoulders! The fairy could easily disappear under quilting. I think you were right in leaving her unquilted.

I just did some "pebbling" on one of the blocks - groan! I'm a masseuse, but no one ever gives me a massage, and I could really do with one now!

Are you quilting the blocks as you go?

Yes - they're much easier for a novice like me to handle. It'll take longer to finish, but never mind.

It doesn't stand up to much close examination - I don't even seem to be able to quilt in the ditch properly! However, it's good practice.
