Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Free Motion Quilting a Sampler »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Romantic, Classic

Materials

Cotton fabric, polyester thread and wadding.

What was your inspiration?

Leah Day's class.

What are you most proud of?

Getting the petals to look fairly even. I didn't overlap them as Leah did in her demonstration - not by design, but by accident! However, they came out okay, I think.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Watch Leah at least a couple of times before starting, and make sure you have a practice on a bit of scrap sandwich first.

Gosh what a transformation with FMQ... beautifully done too! Pat yourself on the back, Leah may have shown you what to do but you were the one in the drivers seat! Just love it!

Thank you! This is one of my favourites. I might just try paper piecing again (but not yet)!

Thank you - I've done a few more since, and I must say this is one of the more successful ones!

Daisies are my favourite flowers too - so simple and pretty. One of my aunts was called Daisy!

Hey this looks really cool! I didn't even recognize the block at first, because the daisy just popped out at me. Well done. I would take Leah's class if I knew I had the right foot for my old Pfaff.

Thank you. The "flower" stands out in the photo because I took the picture with the sun shining across the block. In real life it doesn't look so obvious. I have a Pfaff too - they do an open-toe quilting foot that makes it very much easier.

Mine is from about 1955. I have been using it for more than 20 years. I have experimented with different feet that look like possible quilting feet but so far no success. ):

Thank you - but all credit must go to Leah Day and her course for the quilting. I'm learning so much (but mainly by my mistakes!)

Thank you - I thought it might be a good idea to let it stand out as this was a fairly easy one - I'm not as brave with some of the others and have used something that doesn't show up my mistakes as clearly!
