Thanks Aga! I was very fortunate about 5 to 6 years ago when a fabulous gem store went out of business and I was able to purchase at an extremely good price a wide variety of semi-precious beads & findings for a fraction of the cost. So I have a stock of wonderful materials to play with and over the years have made many beautiful items with them. It is fabulous to sit in ones own studio and just be able to design freely with a fantastic choice of materials. I taught jewelry design/rendering at Parsons School of Design for 9 years, have worked in the jewelry industry in NYC as a professional jewelry designer for over 30 years but as a in-house designer I just work on paper - I design jewelry renderings to be made by others - I always need to go back to my roots of the actual making of jewelry with my hands - I started when I was 13. I always tell my students that i teach in NYC now, that they should go to bead shows or the wonderful bead stores in NYC so that they can take a tray and pick up strands of the beads, colors, materials that speak to them and look for that combination that will really work. Again - thanks for your comment! Lisa :)
