What materials did you use? * 30cm wooden embroidery hoop * Fabric for the background * Small piece of black fabric for the bird * Tiny piece of yellow fabric for the beak and eye * Small dot of white fabric paint/white fabric pen for the eye highlight * Card for the rear of the hoop * Some cheap acrylic felt or wadding to pad the inside of the hoop * No-sew iron-on fabric adhesive - I use Heat n Bond * Kip & Fig Cheeky Blackbird applique template

What are you most proud of? That my patterns and projects make people think 'I could make that' and then they do! And they get in touch with me to let me see what they've made... I LOVE hearing about and seeing people's creative projects come to life - absolutely makes my day!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you want the back of the hoop to look as smart as the front, cover the card at the rear with fabric. It can match the front of the hoop or contrast with it. I use Heat n Bond no-sew adhesive and iron it onto the card circle - does no-sew fabric adhesive stick to card? Yup, it sticks beautifully - and you don't get any horrible marks or 'stiff' bits like you do with PVA or the like. Top tip here is to only iron the paper side of iron-on adhesive - that other side is glue and whilst it's not impossible to get off an iron it's blinkin sticky stuff lols!
