What materials did you use? Ready-To-Wear Plus Size Black Skirt with Sequined Bottom

This skirt was seriously a time consuming alteration. I bought it at a thrift store, but it was 5" too big in the waist and had a side zipper, an enclosed waistband, and pleats across the front. I had to literally open it all up, reconstruct the side seams, taper down to the sequined bottom (so I wouldn't have to cut into them) and then close the waistband back up. I'm really proud at how professional it looks inside. You really wouldn't know it had been altered :)

Good job. I've never handled an alteration like this before; you are brave!

I have a problem. Notice that you have a chapter "how to take in a waist", but my problem is< I am a older woman, and I have to MAKE MY WAISTLINE BIGGER. Somewhere along the way, I lost my waistline. can you help me? I am a newbie sewer, so please make it simple?

I actually just altered a skirt for myself where I made the waist bigger. Check out my other projects - it's a button front navy blue skirt that started as a size 6 and I altered it to a size 14. You'd have to be very selective with the skirt you can do this with, but it worked great for me. My project has a link to my blog that has a full description of how I did the alteration. I hope this helps!
