What was your inspiration?
I started quilting last year and made a quilt for my step-grandaughter's 12th birthday, then one for my grand-daughter's 5th birthday, then this one for my adopted grand-daughter's 5th birthday. (Lots of grand-daughters needing presents!) I had no idea what to do, no money to buy a lot of fabric, so used up my scraps to create this. I used computer graphics which I printed onto material as well as my first attempt at applique. I made it as personal to her as I could and tried to include things that had a place in her life.
What are you most proud of?
Being able to create something from just a pile of fabric scraps and some imagination! I thought at first I would be limited by what I had available, but actually, there is no limit. I'm really pleased with my creativity (not something I've been known for!) and for combining a range of skills, including computers.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't rush in to it, play with the fabrics, let ideas come and go.
