What was your inspiration?
2nd half of Twins' birthday present that I am making for the godfather of the boys. I said, "You pay for the fabric and I'll make a quilt for each of them." He said okay, so here we are! I wanted something fun, The twins (6 and 6 yrs old) love their Wii video games so I thought I would give them the games I knew growing up - Retro style, baby! It's not quite finished, but I got excited and had to share with the Craftsy family.
What are you most proud of?
The pictures don't really do it justice, because the background really looks like it's space - I love the colors, the fact that it really could be a retro video game screenshot. There are a lot of small pieces and for the most part they matched up pretty nicely. I'm hoping the boys like their gifts, and maybe remind them of their godfather later on in life.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
There were a LOT of small pieces that were a challenge to sew and then quilt around, so just be careful you measure and cut precisely, and then of course, sew precisely to get the final measurements to work out. This is for their birthday in June, and I am ahead of schedule, but when you have a deadline like a birthday, or anniversary or Christmas, etc.... just make sure you give yourself lots of time in advance to plan and complete your project without you going insane. Oh, and have fun, as always. :-)
