|Here are some details about my project:|
Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I made this for my sister. The bottom part of the "box" is buttercream covered cake. The top is a thin slice of cake on a board covered in fondant. Next time I'll just use core board. But this was my first - live and learn! The bow, tissue paper, dots and stripes are fondant.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Definately mix your fondant with some tylose or use gumpaste so that the bow holds its form faster/better also you will have less breakage.I didnt wait until the icing crusted over on the cake before adding the lines - I wouldve had a much smoother cake had I waited. I wanted to put some pearls and other items under the lid but I ran out of time making it.
