What was your inspiration?
I based this cake design on some Gymboree dresses I had got for my twin grand daughters to wear at their fifth birthday party. The bottom tier is the same depth as the band around the hems, and the bow and ladybugs are exactly the same size as on the actual dresses.
What are you most proud of?
For little girls especially I think it is a sweet idea to match their birthday cakes with their party outfits and it also means that it is unlikely anyone else has made a cake exactly like it!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The dots take much longer than you think! I had to compromise a bit on the ladybug feelers - it ended up just too hard to get them exactly as on the dress.
