Pattern is "Kai's Shirt" from "Weekend Sewing" by Heather Ross. It's a basic shirt pattern and might challenge you with the collar but the instructions are clear enough that you can be successful! On my blog Dia's Days

What was your inspiration?
My son's 6th birthday. I've been making this same pattern for him for the past few birthdays.
What are you most proud of?
Sizing. The pattern only goes to size 3 but I was able to enlarge and make it fit. Mainly I added to the side seams. BTW, I think the size 3 is a generous size (read big) so you can probably sew it for a 4 or 5 year old; you might need to add length.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Read through the pattern instructions first. You might find fitting the collar a bit challenging but remember that keeping you seam ripper nearby is always a big help. You can do it! Also, I use snaps instead of buttons. It's quicker to finish the shirt this way and also easier for boys to button/unbutton on their own.
