What was your inspiration?
It was fun to feature two machine embroidery designs (Science Warning Labels) from a collection at Urban Threads to decorate the front and back pockets of this box construction laptop bag.
What are you most proud of?
I added a side grab handle for leverage to zip open the bag. The zipper pull contains some of the red/purple/orange polymer beads I made, and strung on a black cord "shoe string" and embellished a bit more with some seed beads, and brass charms from my jewerly junk drawer. Fun look, and makes the zipper ride like a roller coaster. Wheeeee!
I added red, yellow, and purple buttons for contrast, and red embroidery floss running stitches around the pockets.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take time to have a cup of tea--especially when you stick yourself with a pins several times in a row. I must have been in quite a flurry of excitement putting this laptop together. Scraped myself good with pins today. I had three cups of tea!
