What advice would you give someone starting this project? Bezel wire with a step can be purchased to avoid having to use sheet to create a backing for the stone. Be warned though as I used a thicker sheet on the bezel to accommodate the fact the d wire would be getting soldered to the sides of the bezel. When measuring your finger for the ring, take a strip of paper, wrap around your chosen finger just past your knuckle, mark where the paper just over laps, add the thickness of the d wire and take away length of the stone you will be setting. Don't forget to file the ends of the d wire to give them the shape of the bezel so you get a flush join. Don't forget if you do use bezel wire that it is a higher grade of silver and can be accidentally melted, so please be careful.
