Pattern Description: Easy Vogue* Donna Karan fitted dress Pattern Sizing: Sizes range from 6- 20 I used a size 10 through the top and 12 through the hip area. I could've used an 8 in the bust area...sleeves are fitted so the 10 was fine for me there. But, it was not as fitted as I would like in the hip area. So, leave no seam allowance if you want it fitted. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? My dress looked very close to the pattern, but I did make some modifications to resemble a dress that was inspired by, worn by Beyonce Beyonce's Dress Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions can be a little tricky, especially for the sleeve part..otherwise, they were relatively easy to follow. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that this pattern does not have many pieces. Fabric Used: I used an animal print poly-lycra knit that I purchased from Fabric.com. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I eliminated the knot and some of the ease in the front skirt piece. I used the center-front line and cut the front piece on the fold to do this. And, I made a tie belt to go with this dress. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I am definitely gonna sew it again, but I will make more changes to make that dress closer to the look I want, and I will definitely cut a size smaller through the bust and hip area. And, I would shorten the length a little for me. I definitely recommend this dress for others to sew. Conclusion: I will be making this again with some adjustments. Read more about this and see how I originally wore it, you can see what I'm talking about concerning the fit and length.Pattern Description: Easy Vogue* Donna Karan fitted dress Pattern Sizing: Sizes range from 6- 20 I used a size 10 through the top and 12 through the hip area. What was your inspiration?
I saw this picture of Beyonce's dress and I fell in love...I had similar fabric, and I knew which pattern I would use!
What are you most proud of?
I "like" the way it fits, just needs some adjustments to get that "great"fit. :o)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
When sewing knits make sure you cut the pattern out to your EXACT measurements IF you want a fitted dress.
I would help to create a muslin first...I'm just too darn lazy to do one, lol! But, they pay off in the end result.
