Instructions
This is your simple dc mesh. But if you don't know it, here are the details for this scarf, which measures about 9in x 62in, pre-blocking.
*dc mesh needs to be a multiple of 3, plus 2
1. Chain 44 (cuz 42 is a mult of 3, plus 2--just to show any newbie that process)
2. Dc in the 8th st from hook (this will serve as your first dc and ch2, you'll see)
3. ch 2, sk 2
4. Dc in the next st
5.*ch2, sk2, and then dc in the next st*
6. continue ** until you reach the end of the foundation chain, and you should end with a dc in the last ch (this is why we count)
7. Chain 5 and turn (this ch5 will serve as your 3-ch "dc post" and your ch 2 between posts...you'll see)
Row 2:
1. Dc in the top of the next dc post from the row before
2. Ch 2
3. Dc in the top of the next dc post
4. *ch2, and then dc in the top of the next dc)
5. repeat ** for the remainder of the row
Do you see how you are building little squares? Is that not super-cool?
IMPORTANT: at the end of Row 2, and all subsequent rows, the LAST dc is going to go into the THIRD chain of that "ch 5" from the beginning of the former row. So always look and count.
Also, this is so easy, I sometimes forget to "ch 2" between my dcs. I had to rip back 3 rows this last time when I didn't ch 2 and so my square was a V. So now I promise to always check my squares look like squares after every row. Just a quick visual scan (cuz I can get all distracted, say, when watching Downton Abbey).
