What was your inspiration?
I had a special request to make a quilt with Betty Boop. While that character fabric was readily available years ago in a variety of themes, it was a bit harder to find recently. I wanted one that didn't show her in the gambling or bingo variety so I was lucky to find this with just the heart theme.
Given that Betty Boop is someone colorful, I wanted to incorporate that boldness in the colors I chose to make this quilt. I chose bright yellow and hot pink as well as an all over print of words and numbers that would tie them together. I used a red with white dots for the backing to compliment the red background of the Betty Boop print.
What are you most proud of?
The unique nature of this pattern allows each quilt to be distinct and unlike any other done with this particular pattern. You can alter it to highlight or recede different elements.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have fun! Let your imagination run with the fabric, this pattern can handle it!
