What was your inspiration?

This was the August KAL. Plus, I love Alex Tinsley's hat designs. And Malabrigo. It was a match made in heaven.

What are you most proud of?

I knew if I just followed this pattern, I'd be done in a heartbeat, so I decided that I wanted the main body of the hat to be double knit, and therefore reversible. Double knitting is my preferred method of colorwork, so it wasn't that much harder for me to make that leap, though I think most knitters prefer stranded or fair isle better. Personally, I like double knitting for the simple fact that I don't have to worry about my tension as much. Stranded knitting always ends up in a massive tangled mess for me (I'm doing it wrong!) and my FO is always bunchy and weird. So really, I took the easy way out :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The workshop is fantastic (and Alex is a hoot) but for most knitters I don't think it's necessary. This is a pretty straightforward pattern, and very well written, so the extra step-by-step instruction is a bit superfluous.
