Instructions

I pintucked the bodices of both dresses and the hem of the white dress. At the intersection of each pintuck, I sewed and knotted pearls.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Girls

Style: Cute, Classic, Traditional, Formal / Bridal

Materials

Silk Dupioni (white dress) with silk lining Chiffon (green dress) with silk lining

What was your inspiration?

The green fabric was the stoles from the bridesmaid dresses (that they were not using), so it matched the older girls. Neither flower girl is the lacy type, so a pintucked grid with pearls was a more tailored look that they liked.

What are you most proud of?

Using quality silk fabric and the pintuck and pearl details. I prewashed everything before cutting, and both dresses went into the washer after the wedding. They laundered beautifully, so they need not be afraid to wear them again (I am making alternate plaid sashes for a more casual look, too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to take a pattern and make it your own.
