Various colours of glass, copper foil, solder, black patina

What was your inspiration?

I have always been a fan of all cats, but the tigers are at the top of the list. It pains me that these phenomenal creatures are on the endangered species list. I have wanted to Immortalize this tiger for some time, but wasn't quite sure how to go about it. When I started stained glass years ago, I look for just the right pattern, but couldn't find one I liked. So, armed with a picture, I spent a few months designing my own pattern.

What are you most proud of?

The overall look of the project. You never really know how it's all going to turn out, and what would be the right glass to choose, until it's completed. I love the way it turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

To complete this project, you should be comfortable working with the foil version of stained glass. The trick is to take it slow and easy, carefully grinding each piece of glass to fit securely into the pattern. Above all, have fun with it.

Thank you soooo much for your lovely comments!! Creating the pattern was a tremendous challenge, especially when trying to depict the various changes of the colour of the fur. I too enjoy the freedom of using foil. Have a great day !

Beautiful! You have caught the being of a tiger. Myself I have been working with the foil for some years now and love the way it allowes me to do more natural looking patterns but... I am only hoping to learn to create my own patterns from a picture. You have done such a good work with it!
