What are you most proud of? I'm proud of earning to use all of the stitches on my machine, learning hand embroidery, and using the decorative yarns and threads I have been accumulating. Also, I loved it that I got a "WOW" from my husband when he saw the final piece.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? First, I would tell folks who don't have expensive machines with a zillion stitches not to obsess about it. I have a Brother CS6000i with 59 stitches and did fine. Part of the joy of this class is being resourceful with what you already have! My next advice is to watch the entire class before you start your project and take a lot of video notes. Often times, specific sizes or weights of a material are not listed in the Class Resources or Instructions so you have to rely on your notes, or take time to go through the video. Carol is very good, but I found the printed materials to be lacking detail. Also, read all of the questions and answers in a lesson and make notes when an answer provides information on a material or technique that will help you. The questions are not searchable so make a note of something when you read it because it may be impossible to find something again.

I especially like that line of what kind of looks like brick. Is that something that you couched or is that machine stitched?

That layer is actually rows of machine stitching, with hand stitching filling in some of the "stones."

The base fabric is beautiful but what you have done really brings it to life.
