Purchased old lamps at second hand store. Cost $4 per lamp. Spray paint, Tape.
What was your inspiration?
I just purchased a new house and needed bedside lamps. So after seeing what can be done w/old furniture and decor items I decided to find some great matching lamps and take a shot at it.
What are you most proud of?
The way the lamps look afterward. I love them and everyone else does too. They look like expensive lamps and I only spent about $20 ea. after purchasing lampshades (new)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you want to paint the lamp cord leave it alone. I taped mine off but not quite far enough from the lamp so I got overspray beyond the tape. I also painted the top finials.
The cute ribbon I found months later and hot glued it in place on the lamp and the top of the lamp shade (no pic of this part)
It really brought the whole project together.
Really look at pieces at second hand stores to see what can be refinished/painted and go for it. I have put my entire house together like this and it has not cost me as much as my entire new sofa......
