I used fat quartes to creat this quilt.
What was your inspiration?
I origianally created this quilt for my grandson, however I found a quilt kit from Bernina that he would love. Anyway, I ended up giving this to my youngest daughter, who just gave me my second grandchild. She was 5 1/2 weeks early...but she is fine. My daughter loved this quilt on site and told me she loved stars.
What are you most proud of?
This quilt means alot to me because it was a heafty challenge since I haven't sewn much of the last 20+ years. HOWEVER, this quilt is very easy to sew. I keep hearing fears of Y seams, but I didn't have any problems. It turned out beautiful.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
My advise:
Your star quilt can have different number of points (7 rows or more for each starpoint section)
Select your color sceme.
Precut all of your diamonds (2x2inch).
Lay them out to see the effect before you start to sew.
Start at the tip of the starpoint and chain piece down ward toward the sidepoint of the big diamond, then go back to the top of the starpoint and grab the second row and chainpiece down...repeat until you get all of your starpoint section sewn.
