Bead and Wire Carnelian Necklace

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Holiday, Whimsical, Funky, Casual, Hipster, Victorian / Steampunk, Rock / Punk, Traditional, Romantic, Retro / Vintage, Ethnic, Classic, Mod, Cute

Materials

Crab Fire Agate cabochon, carnelian beads, agate beads, copper wire

What was your inspiration?

I wrapped this cabochon some time ago but I've never been happy with it. So I decided to remake it into something more modern.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to take an old piece and redo it into something modern.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to redo pieces that you've had for a while. Old pieces can often be repurposed into something beautiful.

if something i make keeps coming back to me or i can't decide on how i like it, i will take it apart and use the components for something else. this turned out to be a great idea in that way. i love carnelian and i was pulled into the random design and wandered around in it. what a great focal.

This is a beautiful piece! Love it! Is it hard to make?

Thank you. It's freeform, so you'd just start with the wire wrapped pendant and add wire and beads from there.

Thanks. Sometimes I think we have an idea that doesn't quite work out. Luckily, most of the time, it just evolves into something else even better!

Amazing wire wrapping work - the look is amazing and so powerful!! I have taken things apart, too - they seem to work much better the second time around.

What an eye-catcher! Oh, yes, I've been known to take something apart because I have a better use in mind for some of the components -- especially some of my early beading efforts.
