Beach Bustier Depew 1018

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
1950's Style Beach Bustier Depew 1018 »

Instructions

This is a 1950?s style halter top beach buster that I made using a pattern I recently designed. The pattern is based off of the 1950?s Hollywood style with a bit of Marilyn thrown into the mix. I sewed the beach bustier first and I plan on adding a skirt to make it into a dress, but it also looks great with shorts!

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual, Classic, Retro / Vintage, Cute, Romantic, Mod

Materials

Nautical cotton print from Fabric.com.

What was your inspiration?

Why, Marilyn Monroe at the beach, of course!

What are you most proud of?

My top stitching came out beautifully. Going slow really pays off!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you want to go strapless, sew it one size smaller and bone the side seams!
