What was your inspiration?
I was asked to make a wallhanging for a wedding gift. The person who wanted the wallhanging said she would pay me to make it, but I had no idea how much to charge because I had never sold any of my quilted items. I did some research and the websites I looked at suggested an hourly rate plus materials and wear and tear on my machine. I made this particular wallhanging to time myself, and it was the colors the person said she wanted. When I got it all finished, the woman told me she couldn't afford it. That's okay, I like it, so I decided to keep it.
What are you most proud of?
I actually started it and finished it in a relatively short amount of time. Normally, I start a project, get through the piecing of the top, and get sidetracked by some other project. I have a couple of bins of UFO's and every once in a while, I start to feel guilty and finish a few of them.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Figure out how much you want to charge for an item before someone asks you how much you would charge.
