Quilting: Bass Harbor Light

Bass Harbor Light

stitched but no pencil work

Finished
stitched but no pencil work

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Instructions

I used my own drawing rather than the Girl with the Pearl Earring. Otherwise I followed the instructions

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual

Materials

Cotton, fusible fleese, fusible interfacing, thread, colored pencils

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to do something for my brother and sister-in-law and they have a lighthouse theme going at their summer place.

What are you most proud of?

The rocks in this piece

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It probably would have been a good idea to do the picture the instructor suggested but it didn't suit me.

love this! You did a great job! I rocognized the lighthouse even before I was the name on your piece. It is one of my favorite lighthouses in Maine.

Thank you all, someone asked what brand pencils I used. I have an odd collection, some prismcolor, some derwent, some cheap brands that were gifts. I use all of them.

I suppose it is because you started with such a beautiful fabric, there is so much texture and movement in all your colors. That adds a lot of interesting shadows. Great picture!

HelenEliz, So Lovely! I love lighthouses and am excited just thinking about doing one of them now. And thank you so much Lola for this easy way for even a non-artist like me to make art. It looks so hard to do, but your step-by-step process puts it in reach for even me.

The picture used in the course also did not suit me. I have done my own and hope that it turns out as lovely as yours. I am a bit of a nut for lighthouses.

Love your lighthouse! I like the way that Lola offers a pattern to follow while instructing how to create your own design. I am sure your brother and his wife will display your artwork proudly.
