Materials

5 skeins of Patons Canadiana, and about 1 1/4 yd of fleece

What are you most proud of?

I just love the soft, cushy feel of this blanket and how well the fleece attached to the blanket.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

When using the sewing machine to stitch the blanket to the fleece, gently guide the two layers. The fleece will have a tendency to get hung up, so be sure to use a stitch length that is medium to long. I made sure that my needle was new, so that it didn't snag the fleece and get caught. Try a few sample stitches on a throwaway piece before starting in on the blanket. I also tied a few pieces of yarn through both layers - coming up from the knitted side through to the fleece side - like a quilt. Enjoy!!

fit2knit, your 'pinky pink' blanket is so pretty. For my youngest granddaughter I too knit a blanket, backed it with fleece and tied it with DMC thread. When sewing the two together, I put the fleece on the bottom and was AMAZED that it did not snag. When I decided on this method, I thought it was a unique idea...that is, until I went online and saw so many had done the same. After the holidays, I should have more time and would like to post the picture of my littlest granddaughter wrapped inside of it. :)

MomGrandma...by the way...love your screen name! I had been thinking of it for a while and after surfing the web, I also found my idea was not unique. My granddaughter absolutely loves it. I've posted a photo of her wrapped in it!
