What was your inspiration?

One of my (store-bought) mittens was coming unraveled, and as I was repairing it with toothpicks to pull the yarn through, I thought I might try to re-learn how to knit. I had not done any knitting in 25 years, and even when I had done some knitting, I would just unravel whatever I created and start over again. I decided to MAKE something this time, so I did a quick search for basic knitting instructions, with the goal to make a new dish cloth for my kitchen.

What are you most proud of?

How tight and dense the knit turned out, and how sturdy the cloth feels.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Since it only uses one stitch - knit - you end up with a garter-stitched cloth. It doesn't curl on itself (like stockinette does) and it has scrubbing ridges on both sides of the cloth. :)

Nice work. How many stitches on your needle for this dish cloth? I am a poor knitter as well.

I did 40, with pretty snug tension. It resulted in a cloth about 7.5 inches by 7.5 inches (19cmx19xm).
