Materials

Some great sock yarn: Out of Step Dyeworks Merino/nylon sock (80% superwash merino wool & 20% nylon), 390 yards, in Zombie Apocalypse. I bought this yarn at Princess Animal in San Francisco. Hook size H - I started these in class and it was actually a child's pattern that I crocheted loosely and - ta-da - they fit me!

What was your inspiration?

I am OBSESSED with crochet socks and I want to be a master! This is my 4th pair to crochet. I took the Crochet Socks class from Karen Whooley at Stitches West and she is an amazing teacher! I also love this yarn - the color reminds me of sock monkeys and it works up so nicely, no splitting, and very soft!

What are you most proud of?

Completing the pair within 3 days; perfecting the fit.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't fudge on any step - especially the foundation double crochet at the top of the cuff!

I love socks! I have only completed one pair that are crocheted. I have one knitted sock done with some questionable stitching that makes me know I wont ever be able to match it! Do you find the crocheted socks are not as shapely as the knitted ones?
