Barjello quilt in a show in 2007

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Barjello Quilt

Instructions

Buy a book with Barjello quilts and make one that suits your taste. These are hard to make as far as I am concerned and will not make another. They are not my thing.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Cute, Mod, Whimsical

Materials

Many, many fabrics went into this one. It was again a project with my son, Martin, in 2007. He made all the panels on a Singer 1909 Treadle machine and I sewed up the strips. I backed it with black fabric.

What was your inspiration?

My son wanted to make this one. I liked it since it was my first one and there was a quilt show in town so I put it in the show and won an Honorable Mention. I suppose many got that but it was still a win.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to make it with my son Martin when he lived with us for a while during 2007. He is a very talented wood worker, jeweler, quilter and air-brush artist. He took to quilting like a duck to water.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Buy a Barjello book. That's it. Have a lot of patience and be sure to get the pieces in line so that you get the cascading effect. It is way cool!

This is an ambition of mine to make a barjello quilt King size, as yet I have mastered this technic to make cot sized .Congratulations I hope you enjoy using your quilt .Today I joined Craftsy today and I have a friend we are both self taught quilters and usually get together once a week. Today we have decided we are going to do the once a month block to learn new technics. Books are very good but being shown is much better. Happy new year Sue
