The cook platter and the platter with the cupcake, are, acrylic paint that has been baked on the suface for 30 minutes starting with a cold oven..(do not preheat)...at 300 degrees, and allowed to completely cool before removing. I have sold some of my work (mostly the bakery art that has been painted on dishes)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
there are a lot of on line tutorials, and there are basic beginner kits for painting on china, and non-porous surfaces. The paints are fired in a conventional oven. They are so much fun, and you can create gifts for people. I have handpainted wine glasses for Christmas, and other special occasions, and all you have to do is look around at all the beautiful cakes, and desserts. Very addictive hobby...and not expensive for supplies. I have just started painting on canvas, but I would suggest an instructional art book to begin that, and Remember to PAINT WHAT YOU SEE, and NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE. I finally took this advice and my projects turned out a lot better.
