What was your inspiration?
The fabric inspired this dress. I loved the tie-dye stripe mixed with the floral print. It felt very 'grungy'.
What are you most proud of?
The initial top I made for this dress wasn't very appealing so I scrapped it and melded a different bikini-type top into the dress instead. I also had some serious problems working with this fabric because it was incredibly stretchy.
I'm also proud of how the stripe placement worked out. I decided the stripe would look more appealing if it was only placed on the side of the dress to hug my hipline, which made for some cutting challenges with the fabric.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If working with a bold fabric pattern like this, hold your fabric up to yourself in the mirror and decide the best placement of the bold parts of the pattern before cutting.
