What was your inspiration?
I've had this Daisy Kingdom-Jesus and Me fabric for some time. With this baby shower coming up May 17th, I decided to use it in a quilt. Decided to fussy cut the rectangles and work the design around them. I had it up on my quilt planning wall for a few days. One afternoon, my husband and I looked and moved blocks and strips around until we came up with this design.
Then there had to be accessories so therefore the applique cut from the fabric to coordinate onsies, bibs and burp cloths with the quilt. Now I needed a gift bag so why not make a Stand and Stow by Atkinson Designs that can then be used for a baby diaper/travel bag after the shower. With that in mind, the tote needed pockets so I created my own design and sewed them inside.
What are you most proud of?
How the designs came together as well as how the pockets worked out in the tote.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If using a design fabric, be sure you look at all sides before sewing together to be sure design is all running in the right direction. You will save valuable time if you do. I forgot and paid the price but it all was able to be fixed and worked out well!! At least I think so. :)
