Hi Lozzett, Thank you for putting this online. My inspiration is the same as yours and I hadn't picked up knitting needles for years either. You are right, it didn't take too long to understand the pattern. The funny thing is that the picture in the book has 4 squares on each of the 5 panels and yes the pattern seems to say you need 5 squares for each panel. So I came online to see if there were any reviews or comments by anyone who had made this and found your project complete with pictures! Thank you so much. You have saved me lots of anguish! I will now follow the pattern and not the picture. Yours looks beautiful and makes me realise I have made the right choice for my first grandchild. I have until June to finish it (and now I have 1 more square to go before I have finished the first panel). But I also have a shawl to make for a step daughter who is due in April. So once I have finished this panel, I will set it aside and get the other one started. Different pattern Thanks again

This is a really lovely shawl. Congratulations on completing and the forthcoming birth of your grandchild. All children are wonderful but your first is something special. x
