What was your inspiration?
The front piece squares was started by someone else. A client of mine in a wheel chair asked if I could finish it for her. I had to add two more rows of the fan/squares to complete the top. I never made a traditional quilt before and not knowing what to do, I added a row of gray fabric with the cotton lace to make a top and bottom edge on the quilt.
I also didn't have any filling, so I used polor fleece to stuff it. I know, I am not following any rules here, but I was doing this as a favor, with no out of pocket cost from me.
Found the pinkish backing fabric with the cream color bows, which I thought looked simular to the middle of the fan on the front.
What are you most proud of?
I didn't spend any money and used what I had on hand. I put some lace on it and will probably tie some bow to keep the layers from shifting.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Maybe take a class or read a book before just jumping in and sewing. I kow the owner will be pleased with it being done so she may use it or give it as a gift. I put on my easy chair and it is a perfect size!!
