What are you most proud of? I like the way the hood worked out - it is patched and then appliqued as one unit saving time and thread.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The individual blocks from this mug rug would also make great coasters or blocks for a cushion for the nursery. I used the same fabrics for the hood as I used for the patchwork to create a co-ordinated look but using different scraps would look just as good. And if you want to make this mug rug ahead of time, then leave off the name and center the crown in the square (as shown on the 'girl' photo on the pattern page).

Is it possible for you to make your mug rug in the hoop designs? They are all just one cuter than the other and in the largest hoop would be so much more accurate and easier to make? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by 'in the hoop designs'? Do you mean embroidery hoops because if so, then I would recommend that you cut your background fabric to fit your hoop, ensuring it can be trimmed down to the size stated in the pattern. All my designs are created on a basic sewing machine (no embroidery functions) so any embroidery is completed by hand. Most of my patterns do not include embroidery - but I couldn't resist popping the new baby Prince's name on this little mug rug.

Oh how exciting - an eagerly awaited grandson. A new little baby is always such a joy.
