Amigurumi Roosevelt the Monster »

Instructions

This little guy was crocheted using fingering weight yarn and a size C hook, even though the pattern calls for worsted weight yarn.
It's easy to substitute yarn, just select a hook that matches your size yarn. Read my blog post on the topic, here: http://www.craftpassion.com/2011/05/substituting-yarns-in-amigurumi.html

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Toy

For: Children

Style: Funky, Whimsical, Cute

Materials

leftover scrap yarn in fingering weight (Trekking handpainted and Queensland Sugar Rush- 100% sugar cane), 9mm animal eyes, polyester stuffing

What was your inspiration?

I love substituting yarns, so I wanted to demonstrate that this pattern could be done with any weight yarn.
I used some scraps of sock yarn to make this (and what else are you going to do with a few dozen yards of sock yarn?), so it's a great way to clean out your stash!

What are you most proud of?

I'm delighted that I could use yarn that wasn't much good for another project!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to substitute!
