Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical, Cute, Funky

Materials

mostly batiks, scraps

What was your inspiration?

A black and white photo of my great neice was the inspiration for this wall hanging...a gift for my sisters birthday.

What are you most proud of?

Im proud that my first try at free motion quilting worked better than I had anticipated, and it was fun too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Hmm, start with the background first, I wish I had done that, I ended up just creating more work for myself, lesson learned lol.

I love your piece! Now I know I need to get an overhead projector! It is a useful tool. Don't under value your choice of materials and workmanship - workwomanship!

I love this and it is what I have been trying to learn. Did you trace the picture from the overhead and then put material to the tracing. Also what did you use to adhere the pieces? Stitching or wonder under?? You should be very proud of this quilt and your great neice is adorable.

Thank you so much, I traced from my overhead and then traced the different sections onto steam a seam, cut them out, ironed onto fabric, then ironed them into place on a big piece of white fabric (laying on top of the initial overhead traceing so I could see the proper placement) once everything was ironed in place I began stitching

NOW that is ART for sure!!! The difficulty level on this is ONLY A TWO?? Seriously?... LOL

I gave it a 2 for difficlty because I used my overhead projector to enlarge a photograph (it feels like cheating) and I read somewhere on the internet to seperate the photo and give each section 4 to 5 different values of a selected color, this was my first try and it was very easy. Thanks for liking it:)
