The cocoons I've seen patterns for were so cute but I wanted something with a unique stitch that made it "not just another cocoon"

This is my first time writing a pattern and I feel like it was a major accomplishment.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid to try things you think might work. You never know when you'll create something completely new.
