Beautiful muted tones of this soft yarn demanded a simple design.

What are you most proud of?

How good a very simple pattern can look in the right yarn and colours.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Remember that babies can be very strong so fasten off and knot all your ends securely.

Where I have used a specific pattern it is noted but I usually just make it up as I go along. Beanies and booties always start the same way ie: with a magic circle for the beanies and a foundation chain for the booties but then I have to modify the number of starting stitches depending on the yarn weight I am using. Colors and designs I get ideas from my garden or from cartoons or what ever the grandkids are into at the time. I only use very basic stitches and just experiment until I get it right. On these booties, for example, I couldn't get the top of the foot to look just right so I covered it with the strap! But check out videos and other projects on line for ideas. But if you do use someone's pattern exactly always credit them. s
