Baby blanket for a Lil Lax Chick

Lil Lax Chick

Lil Lax Chick

Instructions

This is baby sized at 30x36". I wouldn't waste my time making anything smaller. When baby outgrows this, it is a good tag a long size for her.

Embroider it & then sew together right sides together, leave a place free for turning. Topstitch 1/2 inch all around.

Materials

minky

What was your inspiration?

This was for the baby of my daughter's college roomy. We used mom's college sport & school colors for the embroidery and the lavender & white to match the crib set.

What are you most proud of?

It was a very appropriate & personal gift for her. A baby blanket is a good place for any kind of a theme to make it personal.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

2 layers of minky is difficult to sew together because both layers are fluid & stretch as you try to get them the same size. Use a walking foot & make sure you have a big enough work space to lay it out flat as you work on it.

That white fabric is minky, it's no problem to embroider on that or fleece. I hoop sticky-back stabilizer, then stick the fabric to it (not hooping it) and add a watersoluable stabilzer over it so that the thread doesn't sink into the fabric. I live the sticky back stabilizer it stops all fabric movement. My machine also sews a basting sqare around the embroidery field, but before I had this machine I would just baste the fabric down with my sewing machine.
