What was your inspiration?
I was inspired Marina's fantastic course on fondant and some very beautiful fabric I had found to make a quilt for my niece. So when it came time to throw the shower I used all the beautiful fabrics as inspiration. Each tier is a different fabric, the middle tier was the fabric that we first fell in love with. I had made some fabric rose headbands for all the little girls attending so when I saw the rose tutorial in the lesson I knew I would have to use them somewhere. They were the perfect topper to cover the not so nice looking patch where all the stripes came together, I think that will take lots of practice.
What are you most proud of?
The whole cake coming together, and before 3 am! It was also my first go at using an extruder and was very please with the results.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Going to the fabric store is always a great place to find ideas and be inspired. Just be careful its hard to leave without an arm load of fabulous finds!
