What was your inspiration?
I wanted to create a loose fitting, kimono style jacket and matching accessories for myself. Since I enjoy competing at our annual summer county fair, I wanted to create a real "show stopper" that would give me a competitive edge.
What are you most proud of?
I'm proud of my 1st Place Blue Ribbon win!! I'm also pleased that my design was so well received by the judges and attendees, I love to design, knit, make jewelry and think "outside the box." The jacket and jewelry were original designs. For the purse, I tweaked a marvelous design by Vicki Square to make it my own. In her original design, the purse was not lined, but I decided to line it in such a way that the purse became reversible and I changed the handle and trim.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Go for it! If you have an idea, floating around in your head, don't be shy and give it a try. You may win a Blue Ribbon too!
