What was your inspiration?
all 4 grand daughter's put a ruffle scarf on their Christmas wish list--, ruffle scarves are easy once you watch tutorial, for girls, instead of the 6 sitiches they state, i used 8 stitches which strengthens the scarf and shortens it up to about 4feet, perfect for kids-
the hat is adapted down to a size smaller kids can use by simply going down a size in needles, cut and gathered 2 yards of the ruffle yarn to make the carnation like flower attached to the hat-
each of the girls will get 4 items, hat, ruffle scarf, regular scarf and much asked for fingerless gloves-lots left to do!!
What are you most proud of?
finding a perfect orange for my orange loveing 5 year old, its a coral orange, vicki howell's sheepish, an aran weight yarn, which i doubled, this hat can also be made doubling worsted weight using bulky or super bulky-
the smaller needle makes the sitiches tighter, especially on the top of the hat, where the decreases are
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
if you have a pattern and it isnt quite right, don't be afraid to alter it, in the case of both projects, i t took several times to get it right, but in the end it's worth it!!
