This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:

Instructions

Ice and over dye technique used.

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Funky

Materials

Cotton, ProChem MX Procion Fiber Reactive Dye, Small Bucket, Soda Ash, Salt and water

What was your inspiration?

New ProChem dye in beautiful colors like tungsten, turkey red, rust, eggplant and tangerine.

What are you most proud of?

Size of the piece

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try multiple techniques on one piece because you will see dyes attach differently. Also, if the dye doesn't completely dissolve embrace it. I love how the turkey red attached in the shape of tiny dots because I rushed the mixing and it didn't dissolve 100%.

This is lovely! I can see it as a skirt with the yellow at the top/waist.

Lay piece in a long plastic tub, put your snow or ice over the fabric, cover all fabric then sprinkle your dye powder over the snow or ice, wait for the snow or ice to melt then the dye grabs hold of the fabric. Note: fabric. It's be soaked in the soda solution before you start the process.

I meant fabric must be soaked in soda ash before you start.
