What was your inspiration?

My Aunt wanted a quilt with pinks and yellows. I found the rose fabric, which had both, and some green and burgundy hopefully tied it all together.

What are you most proud of?

That I FINALLY finished ths quilt! Originally, my mom was going to make the top and I was going to quilt it. She got frustrated cutting the pieces out, so she boxed the whole project up and mailed it back to me. It was challenging picking up a project where someone else left off. I finally had finished piecing the center part of this quilt, and I had to set it aside to work on other things. In the meantime, I had it folded on my cutting table, and my cat coughed up a hairball on it!!! So I had to wash and iron an unquilted top, which I had never done before. (Luckily the stain came out.) I think my mom and I started this in November 2008, and the quilt was completed in March 2012. Thank goodness this one is DONE!! :-)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The Take 5 pattern is really easy and fun. Pick 5 fabrics and enjoy yourself! Oh yeah, and don't leave unquilted tops out where your cat can barf on them! :-)

So, what you're saying is, "That was the longest 5 hours of my life!"? I could see me doing the same thing...taking 5 hours to do a project and having it take almost 5 years instead...actually, speaking of long projects, the first quilt I EVER made still needs the binding on it...I used all the material up to make the quilt and have NONE left over, so it's just a matter of taking the quilt to a store to get some material for the binding. This one is really nice, love the colors, and how they are put together. I did have to finish a project that someone else started, and I can sympathize with your pain on that issue...You did a great job!

I bought it at a quilt shop. It's called "Take 5". The "gimmick" is you are supposed to take 5 minutes to pick 5 fabrics, and in 5 hours you will have a lap sized quilt top made. It's a very easy pattern and the blocks go together quickly.
