Category: Quilting

What are you most proud of?

That I did these at all - so burned out on half square, quarter square triangles & flying geese after the Civil War Sampler.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Match the seams & points carefully

Wow the green fabric looks stunning - especially love the double star block it explodes at you. You are so very creative with all that you do.

Thanks so much, Beth - can't wait to see this all together - I'm going to use a dark batik as the sashing - should make these blocks stand out!

I can't wait to see your finished quilt with the dark batiks - are you making it for yourself?

Yes, this one's for me - going to artfully drape it at the foot of my bed or artfully drape it on a chair or artfully drape it somewhere in the bedroom

Not sewing 24/7, mo - - I've been reading, painting a couple of walls also but I do try to sew some each day.

Now I REALLY feel like a slacker! (I'm reading a lot lately... but painting?) Still amazing, and seriously I'm drooling over all your projects!

Thanks so much, Pam! I'm really glad I decided to use my background in the middle of the double start - makes those darker fabrics really stand out.

Thanks, Wazoo Sue! I should live closer to you to get free motion tips! Just don't tell me I need a long arm - quilting has taken over one bedroom & is creeping into the guest room.

You don't need a longarm. I started on my domestic (Pfaff) and did that for twelve years before buying my first used Gammill in 2006. I'm still learning, and I quilt every day!!

Thanks, Sandie! For some reason I didn't agonize over fabric selection as much with these blocks - I am a little worried about having enough for the final 4 blocks or should I say enough to do them the way I want. I started out with a 12 fat quarter bundle & added a few more - we'll see - -

Your blocks are dreamy. Your points on point. Wonderful color & fabrics. Koo dose after your sampler. I really like the fussy cutting. Thank you for the pointers on points & seams. Thank you for sharing.

I love your colors...the points are done so beautiful...great job. I'm still in the fabric choosing stage for the Civil War quilt...but know there are lots of half, quarter sq triangles in those blocks. Anxious to get started on that class...soon!
