What was your inspiration?
I swapped 3 & 1/2 inch blocks of birds with other members of a Group on www.Flickr.com . I quilted the background, took various brown fabrics and sewed them together with wash away stabilizer to create the tree trunk and branches. I appliqued the tree to the background. Then appliqued the birds to the branches and around the tree. I used sheer green fabric and washaway stabilizer, to sew the leaves and attached to the branches. Then hand stitched the thousands of blades of grass. Finally the swing ! Blue Ribbon at Local County Fair.
What are you most proud of?
I feel this is so much of an original, and so much of myself in the wall-hanging. I thank all the swappers in the Flickr group for their contributions of the wonderful variety of birds.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Try, Do. take a class, buy a book, read online.
