What was your inspiration?
I needed (2) padded containers to store and carry audio equipment. I made the padded containers out of two foam seat cushions I picked up at the thrift shop for $1.99 ea.
I layed the (2 pcs) of audio equipment on (2) foam cushions and traced around them. Then I used a serated knife to cut completely through the foam. What was left was the negative image of each piece of equipment. I rotary cut quite a few 3 inch strips of Black batik fabric and serged both edges of the fabric strips. I wound the strips around and around the cushions to cover completely. Some hand stitching kept the strips neat and tight.
I covered two large squares of 1 inch thick foam with Lime Green batik to cover the bottom of the cushions. See photo showing bottom of cushion.
I made a couple of pads and straps covered with black batik, and used velcro to hold the audio equipment in place. A lime green button serves as an indicator where to release the velcro when using the equipment.
I made an over-sized tote with a big front pocket to store the cushion storage containers.
What are you most proud of?
I love the function of the custom equipment storage tote. The padded storage containers protect my equipment when traveling.
And, I can always use the oversized tote as an overnight bag.
